Our vision depends on the functionality of different optical structures in the eye. When these structures malfunction, vision impairments occur. Globally, the most common causes of visual impairment are uncorrected refractive errors (URE), cataracts, and glaucoma. At RestoringVision, we focus our efforts on providing reading glasses which assist with two types of URE: Presbyopia and hyperopia (or farsightedness). We also provide sunglasses which help prevent and alleviate symptoms of cataracts and glaucoma.
More About Presbyopia:
Presbyopia is an age-related eye condition that results in the inability to focus on close-up objects. It is not a disease. It is a natural occurrence and part of the aging process.
As we age, the lens and muscle fibers surrounding the lens slowly lose flexibility and stiffen. The lens cannot change its shape as easily as before. As a result, focusing close-up becomes more difficult and vision becomes blurred.
As this occurs people tend to move the object away from them in order to see it clearly. However, the arms only stretch so far and at that point, the person will need glasses to correct their vision.
Reading glasses are the simplest, safest and most immediate means for correcting presbyopia. These glasses have higher focusing power that allows the eye to see close-up objects clearly.
