Aminah Yoba

Vice President, Philanthropy

Aminah joined RestoringVision in December 2020.

Aminah brings over two decades of experience working with nonprofit and for-profit entities advancing business goals and objectives and organizational development initiatives.

Prior to joining RestoringVision, Aminah served as Director of Institutional and Major Gifts at Breaking Ground, a nonprofit organization working to combat homelessness in NYC, and prior to that as Development Officer at VisionSpring, Inc., a non-profit optical social enterprise. As a development professional, she secured philanthropic dollars from individuals, foundations, corporations, and government entities to meet annual funding needs and advance organizational goals and strategic objectives.

Prior to her work in development, Aminah spent ten years as Program Officer at Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone, a quasi-governmental agency charged with revitalizing underserved areas of Northern Manhattan by making strategic investments in nonprofit and for-profit companies. During her tenure, she refined grantmaking strategies, secured grants from prominent institutional funders, and awarded grants to nonprofits and CBOs to spur economic growth.

In the earlier part of her career, Aminah worked in the media arts sector with two major film and video post-production houses in NYC. During her over ten years in the industry, she assumed several positions, including Operations Manager, PR Associate, Business Development Manager, and Post-Production Producer.

Aminah studied Communications and Film Production at City University of New York’s Brooklyn College.
