Founder and President, i2C Ventures
David Chute joined the RestoringVision Board of Directors in 2007 and became Chairman of the Board in March 2020.
David is the Co-Founder, CEO and Board Member of ThinOptics, a global omni-channel eyewear company that develops and commercializes patented “Always With You” readers and sunglasses that fit on or in things such as phones, keys, wallets and pockets that consumers routinely carry so they are never without their eyewear. ThinOptics sells to consumers in more than 180 countries through its own website and Amazon. ThinOptics also sells directly and through distributors to thousands of retailers worldwide. David is also President of i2C Ventures, a company he founded in 2003 that consults, commercializes and invests in early stage proprietary consumer product companies. i2C Ventures has commercialized multiple patents through co-founding and building startup companies (ThinOptics, Switch Vision, UltraClip); forming companies with inventors to license patented frame, lens, clip-on, sunglass and reading glass technologies; advising as a consultant and board member for reading glass, digital refraction; eyewear health insurance and digital eyewear technology startups.
In addition to the RestoringVision Board, David serves on the board of directors of the not-for-profit VisionSpring as well as several for-profit boards, including Ditto.com and Adlens.
He holds a B.A. degree in Economics from the University of California, Davis; a MSc degree in Economics from the London School of Economics; and an MBA degree from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
