Eye care and glasses have been designated as essential health care items by the U.S. government and the global health community. As the largest nonprofit provider of non-prescription reading glasses and sunglasses to people in need, our work at RestoringVision continues.
Below are some of the immediate actions we’re taking to continue bringing clear vision to those in need while ensuring the health and safety of everyone involved. Your support keeps our work moving forward. Please consider making a donation here today.
As the situation evolves, we will update this page to keep you informed of our work. We invite you to return to this page regularly. Thank you for everything you do to help us give the gift of sight!
Program Response: Communicate, Engage, and Adapt
We’ve curated several resources to help our Service Delivery Partners stay informed and connected while we’re all adapting to this challenging situation and period of social distancing. We are proud to provide this space – a space for connection, engagement and, most importantly, hope.
➜ Tips for Safely Dispensing Reading Glasses While Social Distancing: We recommend that our partners follow the safety guidelines from leading health experts including the WHO and CDC. Because we are passionate about our mission and yours, we’ve created a manual with recommendations for safely and effectively dispensing glasses in the field. This manual also includes a new self-screening chart that allows beneficiaries to identify their reading glasses power without trying on a pair of glasses. Please click here to view and download this manual as well as the new self-screening chart.
➜ COVID-19 RestoringVision Survey: In an effort to monitor the impact of COVID-19 on our Service Delivery Partners, we are conducting ongoing surveys. The results of these surveys will be published under our Latest News and in our correspondences with our partners. If you would like to sign up to receive our correspondences, please sign up here. If you are a service delivery partner and would like to participate in our latest survey, please click here. Your input is extremely valuable.
➜ Communications and Tools for Staying Engaged:
- Read a letter from our Executive Director about COVID-19 here.
- Do you have suggestions for how to enhance our social-distancing-friendly dispensing tips? Please share your ideas here.
- Help us shine a light of hope and positivity by sharing your stories from the field here.
➜ Order Fulfillment: Until further notice, orders will be fulfilled based on the need-by date, as opposed to shipped within 72 hours. If you have any questions regarding your order, please send an email to our Order Fulfillment & Customer Service Supervisor Devora Kaiser at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How Can You Help? Get Involved, Give Today
As we continue to adapt to this unprecedented and rapidly evolving situation while staying true to our mission, your financial support today will help us:
Keep Our Work Moving Forward:
Our work is possible thanks to the generosity and ongoing support of individuals, corporations, foundations, and other partner organizations.
As our staff continues to work during this global health crisis ensuring that those in need are able to see clearly, keeping RestoringVision’s highly-efficient and effective model funded has never been more important.
Adapt Our Programming:
We are committed to transforming and adjusting our programming to continue to serve this component of health care for the most vulnerable.
We are adapting our work to expand our reach and safely bring clear vision to targeted populations and sectors where our glasses can have the highest impact during COVID-19.
Help 700K People See Clearly This Year:
At RestoringVision, we believe that a pair of reading glasses is far more valuable when sitting on the face of someone in need than when stored in our warehouse.
Based on that premise, we’re preparing to provide clear vision to 700,000 people around the world once the immediate danger has passed, following the health and safety guidelines from governments and leading health experts.
