Jayanth Bhuvaraghan joined the RestoringVision Board of Directors in 2021.
Jayanth is a passionate believer in ‘business as a force for good’ and helps organizations discover their purpose and drive purpose driven transformation. He works closely with the Boards, CEO’s and top management executives as Senior Advisor, Mentor, Consultant and Coach.
As the first Chief Mission Officer in a Global MNC, Essilor International, Jayanth is credited with a lot of firsts and is a well-known and respected top management practitioner of Corporate Purpose and Sustainability, Inclusive business in the World.
Jayanth is the founding board member of the Vision Catalyst Fund, UK that aims to set up a $1 Billion Global fund, engage Governments and other stakeholders to create sustainable access for vision care. He also serves on the boards of many international foundations and corporations.
Jayanth is a well-known speaker on topics ranging from corporate purpose, sustainable development, health care, ESG, intrapreneurship, social impact, building businesses in emerging markets and relates his own personal journey with practical insights. He also gives guest lectures on these topics at leading business schools.
Jayanth is a strong campaigner for greater eye health access and awareness and his professional purpose has been to bring good vision to everyone everywhere and this has been a huge part of his life and career.
He strongly believes in driving innovation to serve the 2.5 billion consumers in the base of the pyramid markets and is credited with setting up the first of its kind BOP Innovation Lab for Essilor with the support of EDB Singapore.
One of his key interests is to drive innovation in areas of tele health and diagnostics and bring equitable and universal health care access to everyone everywhere in the world.
Jayanth lives in Singapore and has a unique blend of experience of starting and managing large businesses in both mature and emerging markets and driving purpose driven transformation.
Jayanth joined Essilor in 1998, where he successfully launched and developed operations in India. In 2007 he was appointed President South Asia, ASEAN, Emerging Brands, Lab Operations & IT for the AMERA region, based out of Essilor’s regional headquarters in Singapore. He has served as a member of Essilor International’s Executive Committee from January 2010 and the Chief Mission Officer since 2012. He has over 38 years of diverse experience running various businesses, of which over 20 have been in the ophthalmic optics industry.
Jayanth holds a B.S. degree in Physics from Delhi University and a M.S. degree in Material Science from Anna University. He is also an Alumni of INSEAD Fontainebleau’s Advanced Management Program.
