Meet Devora Kaiser: RestoringVision’s Customer Service Supervisor

Devora Kaiser, RestoringVision’s Customer Service Supervisor, has dedicated 15 years of her career to helping people to see clearly through her role at RestoringVision.

Devora received what she refers to as her “Customer Service Boot Camp Training” with a Total Quality Management (TQM) organization in the 1980s.  From that point on, in one form or another, she has held positions where her end goal has been to ensure that the customer receives the best service possible. “Having joined RestoringVision in 2007, I have been privileged to work in assisting our more than 2,500 partners for the past 15 years,” Devora said. What do you enjoy most about working at RestoringVision?

I so enjoy connecting with our amazing and determined partners who share personal stories and pictures about their work and outreach trips, which many times are an education for me.  I NEVER get tired of seeing the photos of smiling faces with their new eyeglasses on!  And hearing the excitement in our partners’ voices that their outreach trip was “life-changing, amazing, and/or awesome,” thrills me to no end as I know that our partners and the recipients of glasses were all blessed. Working at RestoringVision allows me to be part of the bigger picture in helping to solve the vision crisis that affects over 1 billion people worldwide.

Why is this work important to you personally?

I understand the need as I began wearing glasses at the age of 2 when I could not see clearly to walk up a set of stairs. Working at RestoringVision is a constant reminder to be grateful for my sight.

Who inspires you most and why?

Our partners inspire me as I believe they are the unsung heroes on the “front lines,” be it locally or abroad, providing eyeglasses to those who are desperately in need.  For those who dispense glasses through outreach trips, these are mostly volunteers who take time out of their busy lives to make a difference in others’ lives.

What are you most looking forward to at RestoringVision during this time of growth?

Working alongside my coworkers towards an ambitious goal of reaching 10 million people a year with the vision services and eyeglasses they need.

What do you do in your free time when you’re not solving the global vision crisis?

I spend time with my husband exploring the beautiful state of Maine, walking the beach, playing Scrabble with my 95-year-old mother, and enjoying the company of my chihuahua and I absolutely LOVE to read.
