Pelin Munis, RestoringVision’s Executive Director, Selected to Join Charity Navigator’s Consultative Council of Nonprofit Leaders

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (SEPTEMBER 8, 2022) – RestoringVision is proud to announce that Pelin Munis, Ph.D., Executive Director of RestoringVision, has been selected to serve on Charity Navigator’s Consultative Council of Nonprofit Leaders (CCNL). Formed in June 2020, the CCNL advises Charity Navigator, the world’s largest, most trusted nonprofit evaluator, on various aspects of the sector, factors influencing nonprofit success, and key decisions in Charity Navigator’s ratings and resources.

Munis is the only leader selected to serve on the council from the optical nonprofit sector.

“It is an honor to serve on Charity Navigator’s prestigious Consultative Council of Nonprofit Leaders,” said Munis. “Charity Navigator plays a critical role in evaluating nonprofit organizations and enabling donors to give with confidence. At RestoringVision, we have relied heavily on Charity Navigator and are proud to have achieved its highest rating. I look forward to now representing our sector and contributing to shaping the work of Charity Navigator to galvanize donor giving.”

Since 2001, Charity Navigator has been empowering millions of donors by providing them with free access to data, tools, and resources to guide philanthropic decision-making. Through Charity Navigator’s ratings, nonprofits are equipped with the sector’s premier trust indicator and a powerful platform to raise awareness and funds.

“We are delighted to have Pelin Munis from RestoringVision as a member of the CCNL,” said Michael Thatcher, President & CEO of Charity Navigator. “Her insights will be invaluable as we work together to ensure our ratings are truly representative and provide a comprehensive evaluation of nonprofit effectiveness.”

RestoringVision is a global nonprofit that empowers lives by creating equitable access to vision programs and glasses for those living on less than $2 a day. One billion people have vision impairment that could have been prevented or is yet to be addressed, 81% of which could be corrected with a simple pair of reading glasses. But millions of people worldwide lack access to the vision programs and glasses they need to see clearly. We address this by partnering with our unparalleled network of NGOs and government agencies to provide life-changing vision screenings and glasses to millions of people who could not access them otherwise. Clear vision gives people better opportunities to lead independent, healthy and productive lives, that help lift up communities and drive down poverty.
