We are thrilled to unveil RestoringVision’s new brand identity and website. Our new look has been created as we continue to scale our work as a leading global nonprofit addressing presbyopia and as one of the top optical nonprofits creating equitable access to vision services and eyeglasses for people living in impoverished communities across the globe.
With more than 20 million people impacted by RestoringVision’s work accomplished in partnership with an unparalleled network of over 2,500 NGOs and governments worldwide, the momentum continues to build as we remain fiercely committed to solving the global vision crisis. Over 1 billion people lack access to the vision care and glasses they need to see clearly; 81% of these individuals only need a pair of reading glasses to correct their vision.
While we have a new modern look, our mission remains the same: to empower lives by restoring vision for millions of people in need who live on less than $2 a day. Our organizational vision is clear: a world where everyone who needs glasses has them. Our new logo visually embodies this moment and RestoringVision’s unique position in helping to solve the global vision crisis. As the nonprofit leader in addressing presbyopia, we know that vision is uniquely situated at the intersection of global health, education, and economic development. Sight is at the center of solving many of our world’s greatest challenges, which is highlighted even more so by the inclusion of the Vision for Everyone Resolution unveiled by the United Nations in 2021, and as part of vision health’s inclusion in advancing eight of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
This year, RestoringVision aims to serve 3.5 million people living on less than $2 a day. In 2021, through RestoringVision’s programs, 1,930,363 adults received corrective eyeglasses, which correlates to an additional $270,250,820 in earning potential at the household level. Research shows that when an adult worker’s vision is restored with corrective eyeglasses, there is an increase in their productivity by up to 32%. This can be correlated to an increase in income by up to 20%. For an individual earning $2 per day, this equates to an increase in earning potential of $140 annually at the household level. By working together, imagine how much more we can do to lift up the individual and alleviate the global economic burden caused by impaired vision by ensuring that everyone who needs glasses has them!
