SAN FRANCISCO, CA (April 6, 2023) – RestoringVision has joined the Coalition for Clear Vision Steering Committee as it continues to lead the charge for solving the global vision crisis.
Consistent with RestoringVision’s vision – a world where everyone who needs glasses has them – the Coalition for Clear Vision, its Steering Committee, and its members are determined to ensure that every person on this planet has permanent access to affordable quality eye care services and glasses by the end of 2050.
It is also the first coalition of its kind focused on solving the global vision crisis with the collaboration of multiple stakeholders, specifically to address uncorrected refractive errors. The Coalition for Clear Vision brings together doctors and activists, medical professionals and scientists, and professionals from businesses and nonprofits. The coalition focuses on removing barriers and using accelerators to scale its solutions by using market forces and engaging with governments.
One billion people have a vision impairment that could have been prevented or is yet to be addressed, 81% of which could be corrected with a simple pair of reading glasses.
RestoringVision addresses this global vision crisis by partnering with its unparalleled network of more than 2,500 NGOs and government partners to provide life-changing vision screenings and eyeglasses to millions of people who could not access them otherwise, making it a valuable member of the coalition’s steering committee. RestoringVision has reached 24 million people in over 144 countries since 2003.
